About

Hello. My name is Gareth Patch and welcome to the semi-echo website, the home for all my freelance sound and music work.  Take a look around the site, listen to the audio examples and see how I can help you with sound, music and tuition.

I have been involved in sound and music in one form or another for over twenty-five years, performing in bands, writing and recording music and soundtrack, as well as live sound operation. I have written and recorded music and sound design for educational apps, mastered for local record labels prior to national release and radio airplay, along with mix engineering and producing talented musicians and podcasts. I am also now a staff writer for the music website MakingMusic.com and a house engineer for The Smokehouse venue. I spent eight years teaching as a Lecturer in Sound Technology in Further and Higher Education, while continuing with my own projects and freelance work.  I play a variety of instruments for various bands (currently These Are End TimesBlacktop Harrison and The Failure Men) and have performed across the UK and in the USA. Personal highlights have been Latitude Festival (UK), The Garage, The Borderline & The Troubadour (London) and Ziggy’s Music Box (Chattanooga, TN).

I have a First Class BA (Hons) in Music, which includes a Foundation Degree in Popular Music at Distinction level. I also have a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education and ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory. I consider myself to be open to ideas as well as being creative, patient and positive, relaxed but happy to work to deadlines.
